What is the Slot Spacing and how can I use it to design my newsletter ?

A successful email campaign is the sum of its details! That's why when you design your latest newsletter using our super flexible Moosend Editor, you'll find that you can get down to the nitty gritty and bring your newsletter to absolute perfection with ease.

After you've begun defining your newsletter design's structure using the various Containers, you can also start adding Elements to each available slot, filling the structure with content. Each Container you use comes with its own fully customizable group of Container settings. One of the most useful options contained in the settings is the Slot Spacing.

Let's see what it does:

1. Click on the Settings symbol, appearing on the right side of the Container when you place your mouse over it, to open the Container settings.
Slot Spacing Step 1 : Click on the Settings symbol on the side of the container

Make sure that you chose a Container that has at least two slots in it - anything but a Full Width Container will serve as a fine example (changing the Slot Spacing on a Full Width Container option will have no effect, as there are no two distinct slots to create space in between). Additionally, make sure that your Container has a few Elements and content of your choice (images, text, etc) added to it, so that it's clearly discernible how changing the Slot Spacing affects the look of your newsletter design.

2. Click on the up/down arrows, located next to the Slot Spacing setting on the left side of your Editor page.
Slot Spacing Step 2 : Adjust the slot spacing by clicking on the arrows

The value has a range from 0 up to 2000 pixels. Increasing the amount increases the distance between the row's various slots.

3. Type-in the exact Slot Spacing number of your choice in the available field.
Slot Spacing Step 3 : Adjust the slot spacing by typing in the exact slot spacing in pixels

It's easy to see that the distance between the slots of the row changes in size when you change the Slot Spacing, but if you find yourself still feeling unsure about what the spacing is, you might want to momentarily change the Row Color option to something other than the default transparent option so that the spacing between the slots stands out more.

Now that you're familiar with how the spacing between the slots of each row works, make sure you take advantage of it to tweak your design and make it look amazing!
