How does the "When someone exits a specific page" trigger work

As soon as you start identifying your website users you can also start designing your own automation workflows. You will find that among the available trigger types there is one titled "When someone exits a specific page". As its name implies, this trigger reacts by setting your automation in motion when someone exits a specific page on a website that you manage.

There are four parameters that you need to define on this type of trigger:

1. You need to choose whether the automation will be triggered for every exit intent, or whether it will be triggered on the first-page exit only.exit_specific_page_trigger__.png

2. The second parameter you need to define is the website(s) where the page browse needs to take place in order to trigger your automation.

You can find a list of the websites that you manage on the drop-down menu, as well as an option to track all of your websites. Choosing a specific one means that events from all other websites will be ignored.

3. The third parameter that you need to define is how should the website paths that fire this trigger compare to a website path which you will need to provide next.exit_specific_page_trigger_1.png

Your options are:

  • Equal
  • Do not equal
  • Start with
  • End with
  • Contain
  • Do not contain
  • Do not end with
  • Do not start with

4. The fourth and final parameter that you need to define is the actual website path which will act as the base of comparison.

Only exits on pages with website paths that compare to this path in the manner that you set up, will trigger the workflow, while the rest will be ignored. After you're done, click on the Save button to have your trigger ready and waiting inside your workflow.

You just took the first step to create your own automation which will be triggered whenever someone exits a specific page on your website. To move ahead with your current design you should take a look at how to use the Conditional / Control steps and how to use Actions.
