What does email spam mean?

Email Spam, also known as Junk Email or Unsolicited Bulk-Email, is a subset of electronic spam involving identical, or nearly identical messages sent to numerous recipients by email. The messages most likely contain disguised links which appear to be leading to familiar websites but in fact, lead to phishing websites or sites which are hosting malware or other malicious content.

The most common use of the term Spam is to describe emails that are unsolicited and are sent in bulk. This includes any emails sent to a recipient who hasn't specifically requested or agreed upon receiving such emails from the sender.
