One of the items in the Form Designer that you can use in designing your subscription forms is a form. You can edit the form in your selected template so that your website visitors can easily subscribe to your email marketing campaigns.
After editing the layout, you can edit the item in your design.
A. Edit a form
To edit a form item:
- In the editing area, click the form item to display the Form settings in the designer’s right pane.
- You can either scroll down to view the available settings or use the Search field to enter the name of the setting you want to edit. You can set the following:
- Background Color: select the background color of the form. The default color is transparent.
- Shadow Settings: click to edit the horizontal or vertical shadow length, adjust the blur and spread radius, shadow color, and then click Apply.
- Form Width: enter the width or use the up and down arrows to edit the form width.
- Form Type: select Normal or Inline form type.
Note: The Normal type displays the form field above the button and the Inline type displays the form field and button in a single line. - Form Align: select Left, Center, or Right alignment.
- Border Width: enter the width or use the up and down arrows to edit the border width.
- Corner Radius: enter the radius or use the up and down arrows to edit the corner’s shape between a rectangle and a circle.
- Border Color: select the form border color.
- Padding: click the lock icon to display these options: Padding Top, Padding Bottom, Padding Left and Padding Right, then enter the padding or use the up and down arrows to edit the padding from 0 to 2000.
- In the On Submit drop-down menu, select the action you want to launch when a visitor subscribes to your list:
- Display success/error message: enter the message or use the pre-set message. Select Preview message to see how the message looks in the editing area.
- Redirect to page: enter the URL of a published landing page.
- Redirect to external URL: enter the URL of a landing page or an external page. Select Pass URL parameters on form submit to use this option for your form.
- Close Form: select this option to close the form after a visitor subscribes to your list.
- In the Select Mailing List drop-down menu, select the mailing list you want to use for your form.
Note: If you make any changes to the selected email list's custom fields, the form does not automatically reflect the changes. You must re-select the email list for the form item to get the updates.
B. Edit or create custom fields
To add custom fields to your form:
- Click the form item to display the Form settings in the designer’s right pane.
- Click Edit Custom fields. The Custom Field Settings dialog appears.
- Click the switch to use the custom field in your form. Click the switch to put the custom field in the Use state. The switch turns green.
- In the Label field, enter the text that you want to appear as the custom field label.
- In the Placeholder field, you can enter an optional text for the field.
- In the Prefill Value field, enter a default value of the custom field, if the subscriber leaves this field empty.
- To edit additional settings, you can select the following icons:
- Required: makes the custom field required in your form.
- Hidden field: hides the custom field in your form.
- Read-only field: makes the custom field read-only.
- Click Create Custom field to create a new custom field.
- In the Custom Field Settings dialog, you can set the following:
- Name: enter the name of the new custom field.
- Data type: select the data type of your new custom field: Text, Number, Date, Select Dropdown, and Checkbox.
- Required: when selected, the custom field becomes required in the form.
- Hidden: when selected, the custom field becomes hidden in the form.
- Click Create. Any custom field created is also created in the email list you've selected to connect your form with.
C. Edit additional form settings
To edit additional settings in your form:
- Click the form item to display the Form settings in the designer’s right pane.
- Scroll down and expand the drop-down menus for the following styles:
- Field Styles
- Label Styles
- Placeholder Styles
- Button Styles
- Wheel of fortune
- ReCaptcha Settings
- GDPR Checkbox
