In addition to the different subscription forms you can create in Moosend, you can also create another type of form called Promotional pop-up. This type of form is used mainly to promote a special message, like a new product offer, a sale, or an event that you don't want your visitors to miss. You can set all the information regarding your promotional pop-up through the creation process described below:
Step 1: Create a new promotional pop-up
Create a new promotional pop-up from the Growth Tools tab.
- In the top navigation bar, hover your mouse over the Growth Tools tab and select Subscription Forms.
- On the Growth Tools page, click New and select Subscription Form.
- In the Choose subscription form type dialog, click Create underneath the Promotional pop-up option. The Create a new form page is displayed.
Step 2: Define the promotional pop-up settings
Define the basic settings of your promotional pop-up.
- In the Set basic settings step, provide a name for your form.
Note: Your form's name is for internal use only and will not be shown to visitors on your page. - Click Next to continue.
Step 3: Create your design
Create a design using the Form Designer.
- In the Design step, click the Start designing to access the Form Designer.
- To find a template to use as your starting point, browse the available templates in the Template Library, and then click Use Template to apply it to your design.

Click here to view the image in full size - When you have finished designing your promotional pop-up, in the top menu, click Proceed to Next Step then click Yes.
- Click Next to continue.
Step 4: Define the visibility settings
Define the visibility settings of your promotional pop-up.
You must fill out all the fields of the setting, otherwise the form will not be shown.
- In the Set visibility settings step, select the option when you would like the subscription form to be displayed by setting the corresponding switch to Active:
- Show form when someone visits a page
The subscription form is displayed when someone visits the page, after a set amount of time that you specify.
i. Use the first and second fields (the second field is a drop-down menu) to specify the number of Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks or Months that need to have passed since the visitor last viewed the form.
ii. Use the third drop-down menu to specify the amount of time that should pass before the form is displayed to returning visitors (assuming the criteria previously described have been met). - Show form when someone leaves a page
The subscription form is displayed when someone is about to leave the page. - Show form when someone clicks link or button
The subscription form is displayed when a user clicks on specific text or button within your web page. For example, if you use the code provided, when a user clicks Activate Click Trigger, the pop-up form opens. Click Copy to copy the code snippet which appears and then paste it into your website's code. Note that you can edit the code snippet after you paste it.
For example, in the following code:
When a user clicks the clickable text Activate Click Trigger, the Pop-up form will open.
- Show form when someone visits a page
- To hide the subscription form from visitors who have already submitted it, select the Don't show the form to people who have already submitted it checkbox.
- In each option, you can set rules under Advanced conditional form visibility settings. This is described in the following sections below: Set conditional rules for showing a form and Set conditional rules for hiding a form.
Step 5: Set conditional rules for showing a form
Edit the rules for showing your promotional pop-up.
Important: You must fill out all the fields of the rule, otherwise the form is not hidden. Any rules for hiding your form override rules for displaying your form.
- Click the Conditional rules for showing the form tab.
- Specify if the form must be displayed when all or any of the criteria are present, using the drop-down menu.
- The option All displays the form if all the rules added are true.
- The option Any displays the form if at least one of the rules added is true.
- Click Add rule to add one or more rules and fill out the relevant fields to define them.
- Fill out the fields:
- URL Path
To set a rule based on a specific URL path, choose URL Path from the first drop-down menu, specify whether the path is /is not / contains / does not contain / starts with / does not start with /ends with /does not end with and then complete the rule by typing the appropriate URL path into the third drop-down field and then press the enter button to add the value. Please note that this url path is after your domain. - Cookie
To set a rule based on a specific cookie name, choose Cookie from the first drop-down menu, specify whether it is /is not / contains / does not contain / starts with / does not start with /ends with /does not end with and then complete the rule by typing the appropriate value into the third drop-down field and then press the enter button to add the value. - Country
To filter visitors based on their country, choose Country from the first drop-down menu, specify whether it is/is not and then choose the country from the drop-down list of available countries in the third field. - Device Type: You can filter visitors based on whether they are viewing through their mobile phone or their desktops. Choose the condition Device Type from the first drop-down menu, select whether this is/is not, and then, from the third drop-down field, select either Desktop or Mobile.
- Operating System: You can filter visitors based on the operating system they are using. To do that choose the condition Operating System from the first drop-down menu, and in the second drop-down menu specify whether the OS is / is not and then choose from the drop-down list of popular operating systems in the third field.

Step 6: Set conditional rules for hiding a form
Edit the rules for hiding your promotional pop-up.
Important: You must fill out all the fields of the rule, otherwise the form is not hidden. Any rules for hiding your form override rules for displaying your form.
- Click the Conditional rules for hiding the form tab.
- Specify if the form must be displayed when all or any of the criteria are present, using the drop-down menu.
- The option All displays the form if all the rules added are true.
- The option Any displays the form if at least one of the rules added is true.
- Click Add rule to add one or more rules and fill out the relevant fields to define them.
- Click Next to continue.
Step 7: Publish your promotional pop-up
Publish your form on an active landing page or on your website.
You can automatically publish your form on an active landing page in our platform or on your website that is connected with your account and is verified.
- In the Choose publishing method step, set the Yes, publish automatically to the following website switch to Yes.
- Under Publish on your site, in the Connected Websites drop-down menu, select your website or landing page.
Note: For a landing page to be displayed on the list, it must be active. For a website to be displayed on the list, it must be verified. - Under Embed or Publish to External Platforms, you can select to publish your form on third-party platforms or to your website if it's not connected to your account.
- Click Setup located next to the Link to your form option and fill out the fields.
- Click Setup next to the Embed your form option.
- If your website is already connected with your account, it's unnecessary to add the provided code to embed your form. Use the Publish option on your website as described above. Click Copy to copy the code snippet that appears and then paste it into your website's code.
Note: Because this option excludes the website tracking code, any submissions and views for an embedded form are not counted in its total statistics.
Step 8: View your promotional pop-up summary
Check the details before publishing your form.
- In the Summary step, edit a setting by clicking the Edit link.
- Check for any missing information. Any fields with missing information are indicated by
.
- If you want to go back to the previous step, click Back.
- When you are ready to publish your form, click Publish. Otherwise, click Save & exit button to save your form as a draft.
