Work with platform custom domains

Abstract

Learn how to add, verify and delete a platform custom domain.

You can create a custom domain for your Moosend platform, so that it reflects your characteristics and branding. You need to verify a custom domain before you can personalize it. You can also customize your platform domain branding.

First, you have to create a platform custom domain (CNAME), that appears as your platform URL. This CNAME is also used for most links and URLs associated with your account and client subaccounts. After this custom domain is verified, it replaces your default platform domain.

Note

You can only have one platform domain.

Important

Before you change domain settings, you must make sure that you have access to your domain's DNS records.

Add a platform custom domain

When adding a platform custom domain, you have to create a subdomain within your own domain. For example, if your domain address is mydomain.com and your default Moosend platform domain is mydomain.moosend.com, then you have to create a subdomain with your preferred custom domain name, for example, email.mydomain.com.

After you create your subdomain, you should add a CNAME record to the DNS of your domain mydomain.com, and in the CNAME record, you must point email.mydomain.com to mydomain.moosend.com.

To add a platform custom domain:

  1. On the menu bar, click More > Settings.

  2. On the menu on the left, click Branding.

  3. In the Platform custom domain section, you can view the default domain for the platform. Click Create new domain to add a platform custom domain.

  4. In the Website domain field, enter the custom platform domain and click Create and verify.

    Important

If the custom domain that you have added is already verified, then you can continue personalizing your custom domain.

If the custom domain is not verified yet, you must verify your domain.

Verify a platform custom domain

To verify a platform custom domain:

  1. On the menu bar, click More > Settings.

  2. On the menu on the left, click Branding.

  3. In the Platform custom domain section, go to the unverified domain name and click Brand domain.

  4. To verify your custom domain now, click Verify DNS Record. To verify your custom domain at a later time, click Verify Later.

    Note

It takes 30 minutes or more to apply any changes you have made.

For detailed instructions on how to register CNAMEs with some of the most popular providers, refer to Set up a CNAME for different providers.

    Note

To secure your added CNAME, you can export your personal information exchange (PFX) file in Windows format and submit a support ticket to with your PFX file, including the password for the file, if needed. We will then add the certificate to your CNAME on your behalf, ensuring that it uses a secure HTTPS connection. To ensure the ongoing security of your CNAME, you will need to send us a new PFX file in Windows format if your current one expires.

When the custom domain is verified, you can continue customizing your platform domain branding.
